New Orleans

Pancakes over an open grille at rest-stop in Mississippi, and the day begins. With a long drive from southern Georgia we stopped off for some R&R in Mississippi, here we befriended Jacob. Jacob, in his late 20’s was traveling back east from Texas home to Florida, traveling on his bicycle, and hitching when he could pick up a ride. We embraced our new friend and enjoyed one more for breakfast.
Headed South West for New Orleans, we planned on staying on the cross-street of Royal & Canal Street, just one block from the well known party scene of Bourbon St. With local liquor laws permitting bars to stay open 24/7 we took full advantage including mechanical bull riding, and a little taste of some Southern Blues into our 5:30 am escape.
Dazed and Confused we awoke, with just minutes to spare in our 12:00 pm checkout. Staying on Royal Street, we took the opportunity to explore it’s expansive art district including New Orleans own, George Rodrigue.
After exploring the artistic culture of New Orleans we decided to head west toward Texas and the next leg of our Journey, but Clementine had other Ideas. A few miles outside of New Orleans, in a small town named Kenner, we experienced our first Van troubles. We broke down in the parking lot of a local seafood establishment, that was shared with a….. Advanced Auto Parts. Oh the wonderful Irony.
